Eeew so much fear mongering in this news segment. I think the worst (and smartest) thing corporate/investor America can do to working class America is to convince its people its checkmate, they've already won, no point in trying, you're going to rent forever, you already missed your shot, you're priced out, you can never build wealth. It's quite simply not true. Theres a housing shortage & it's a sellers market, yes. This too shall pass.

I think about all the people who sat back in 2011/2012 who said they are going to wait until the market crashes again and purchase. I don't know too many of those people who are still on the fencing waiting. Most of them I know jumped into the market, bought a home, locked in 3% interest and are now reaping the benefits of home ownership. Many have either pulled some money out to fix up their home, or they have already sold, taken their equity and upgraded to a new neighborhood and are loving being homeowners. I love it when home owners who are selling work with veterans. That is the best in this competitive market.

@Crater Tube cool story bro. But i could easily sell today for 100k over what i paid 3 years ago. You obviously don’t understand the market in colorado, listed for more than 7 days is an anomaly. And i already agreed that housing is starting to plummet. What i’m saying from the beginning is that when the moratoriums are lifted, it’s gonna be bad. Bad for sellers, good for buyers.

    3. Crater Tube
      Crater Tube
      2 napja

@Danger Noodle Housing prices are cratering irrespective of inventory. You likely couldn't find a buyer for your shack at a fraction of the amount you've got in it.

    4. Danger Noodle
      Danger Noodle
      2 napja

@Crater Tube i’m speaking of inventory. If inventory is extended to 12, 18...24 months; prices will crash. Inventory is at around 2 or 3 months currently, and driving the bubble we’re seeing now. My home rose 35% in the past year, and that’s not normal market behavior.

Housing is not a luxury. The federal government needs to get it out of the markets now. It’s way over the top here in Ontario. One needs at least $100k for a down payment. We have houses on my street empty. The owners are investors. I know, and talked to them. So now our city wants to build tall condos to solve the shortage of housing, so that we will have to squeeze into tiny slots in the sky.

In renting, all apartments are owned by Corporations who have a lock on the prices making them a monopoly with exactly the same rules and regulations. There’s no variety or humanity involved. In rent controlled areas, older people are harassed until they get sick or leave. If they are evicted it goes on their record and they cannot get another apartment ever. No corporations will rent to them. I believe someone of the homeless come from this.

The bank becomes your landlord until they sell the loan to Fannie May, then the federal govt becomes your landlord, and the bank is merely a debt collector. So it behooves the federal govt to keep interest rates low, it allows them to take over America without anyone suspecting what is going on. So the Federal govt gets your taxes and your mortgage payment. Roughly 60% of your income. The goal of socialism is the elimination of ownership of private property.

supposedly approx 10% of US home owners intend to sell this year. Many will be sellers that delayed selling last year due to Covid. So we are going to see more inventory, which should result in a more balanced supply. But it will probably will still be a market favoring sellers, because there is not enough new construction to satisfy all the first time buyers. (new construction is experiencing big shortages of materials and large price hikes for those materials). Also, what will happen to supply of homes for sale when eviction moratorium is lifted and banks can foreclose on everyone who is behind on mortgage payments? I am seeing price inflation for building materials, so I would say inflation is coming, NOT deflation. Remember the WHO, on their website is saying, "we will own nothing and be happy". they are telling us what is in store in the future. If you can buy land now, do so asap. You can always build a tiny home or some other energy efficient home later on, but at least you have your land.

Invest in crypto folks. When the market crashes and the dollar is worth-less, crypto will be way up. Get in now. Don't kick yourself in 2024 for not starting today.

Good report, knowingly or not they have BROKEN the middle class and DESTROYED the American dream. It's funny to me that now the college educated folks are saying hey what's going on here. Oh guess what, it's affecting them too. Traditionally in the U.S. a home has been purchased as a PRIMARY residence. My concern is that the government will step in to fix the problem. Corruption and greed has always been a problem, add to that an almost complete vacuum of morality and ethics. Wonder how this will turn out.

They kept on printing money and the rich getting richer and poor getting poorer. And poor will never afford a house again. So sad
